[3 November 2022, Hong Kong]: The Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) has welcomed The Hong Kong Jockey Club as the Official Community Partner of the 2022 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

As the Official Community Partner, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) is helping to promote the sport across the community and will be providing an opportunity for over 7,000 of community members to experience the exhilarating world-famous Hong Kong Sevens from 4-6 November, 2022.

This is also one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of HK$630 million to the Government of the HKSAR to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of our society, all in support of creating stronger communities together.

The Jockey Club Community Experience will offer free tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (4-6 Nov) to members of the wider community through the HKJC’s extensive network of supported NGOs and charity groups. Included amongst these lucky fans are beneficiaries of the numerous programmes under the auspices of the HKRU Community Foundation.

The HKJC is also sponsoring the HKRU’s long-running Jockey Club Bill Williams Youth Sevens Tournament for the first time in 2022. The Tournament dates back to the inception of the then Hong Kong Junior Rugby Union in 1971, and today features both boys and girls divisions. All of the players will be invited to the Hong Kong Sevens after play concludes on 4 November (Friday), for the final round of matches on opening night.

Also joining these committed young ruggers in the Stadium on Friday will be thousands of school children recruited with the support of the Hong Kong Rugby Union and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department from every primary and secondary school in the city as part of this year’s Jockey Club Friday Sevens School Tour programme. Over 200 volunteers from HKRU-HKJC joint community projects will host this team on Friday, providing the kids with a Stadium tour and sitting them throughout the games to help them understand more about rugby and the Hong Kong Sevens.

The HKJC is also supporting the Jockey Club Mini Rugby Showcase on Saturday and Sunday morning.

The mini showcase will be staged next door at the SCAA-Jockey Club Stadium and So Kon Po recreation ground to enable Hong Kong’s mighty minis to have their pre-Sevens run-out.

These HKJC initiatives have drawn the fulsome support of one interested observer, Hong Kong rugby sevens star and Asian Games gold medallist, Lee Ka-to.

“Ever since I first visited the tournament as a young player, I wanted to run out for Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Sevens. All of my rugby dreams started from that moment so I want to thank the HKJC for their support and for hosting so many kids to this year’s Sevens.”

“Hopefully, we players can do our part by bringing home some wins and together with the HKJC we can interest more and more new fans to play rugby, some of whom might go on to represent Hong Kong around the world like me,” said Lee.

香港賽馬會與眾同樂 支持「我們的七欖」回歸

[2022年11月3日，香港]: 香港欖球總會（欖總）歡迎香港賽馬會成為2022年「國泰航空/滙豐香港國際七人欖球賽」（「七欖」）的官方社區合作夥伴。

香港賽馬會（馬會）一直致力在社區推廣體育運動，今次作為官方社區合作夥伴，為超過7,000名社區階層人士提供千載難逢的機會，於11月4日至6日入場體驗享譽全球的「香港國際七人欖球賽」。

是次項目亦是香港賽馬會撥款6億3千萬港元支持特區政府為慶祝特區成立25周年而舉辦的多個項目之一，展示了香港賽馬會將繼續秉持致力建設更美好社會的宗旨，與香港並肩同行。

「賽馬會社區欖球體驗日」將透過受惠於馬會的非政府組織和慈善團體，為眾多社區人士提供星期五、六及日的免費「七欖」門票（11月4日至6日）。其中「香港欖球總會社區基金」的多個合作單位亦會受惠。

馬會今年亦首次支持欖總歷史悠久的「賽馬會Bill Williams青少年七人欖球賽」。這賽事起源於1971年成立的香港青少年欖球總會，時至今天已設有男、女子兩個組別。這些球員將獲邀入場觀賞11月4日（星期五）首日的尾場賽事。

同日，欖總一如以往招待學生入場觀戰，並與康樂及文化事務署合作，向全港中小學招募逾6,000名學生參與「賽馬會週五欖球賽學校導賞團」。逾200名來自欖總和馬會聯合社區項目的義工團隊將在星期五晚協助招待此批學生，帶領他們參觀香港大球場之外，亦會陪同觀賞賽事，讓他們更了解欖球運動和「七欖」。

由馬會支持的「賽馬會小型欖球表演賽」將於星期六及日早上分別在南華會-賽馬會運動場和掃桿埔運動場舉行，讓這群香港年輕欖球員可在「七欖」賽事展開前盡情獻技。

香港七人欖球球星、亞運金牌得主李卡度讚揚由馬會支持的社區項目，他說：「我年青時每次入場都希望他朝能在『香港國際七人欖球賽』為港披甲。我亦由當時開始追逐我的欖球夢想 ，所以我很感謝馬會今年鼎力支持『七欖 』有助青少年提升有關興趣。」

「我們希望在主場獲勝，並且與馬會一齊激發起更多球迷參與欖球運動的興趣，或者當中有人像我一樣日後會成為香港代表隊的一員。」
